The MACC has Reopened!

The difference is evident when you walk in the door. Hallways are lighter and brighter at the Mountain Arts Community Center (MACC) with the old dropped ceilings and flickering fluorescent lights removed. New LED schoolhouse lights bring back the character of this historic place while brightening the freshly painted walls and ceilings.

The most exciting additions to the MACC, for those who spend a lot of time here, are the heat and air conditioning units in the classrooms. The insufficient boiler system and window air units are a thing of the past. The MACC not only looks better, but it feels better, too!

There’s no more sitting in the hallways waiting for your child to finish a lesson. A comfy waiting room with WiFi and a play area is available for parents and siblings.

Maybe you would like to social distance outside. Volunteer groups have been busy creating beautiful spaces for the community to enjoy. The Garden Club of Signal Mountain installed a pollinator garden full of flowers that should attract plenty of bees and butterflies this summer. Anne Hagood has taken on several areas around the MACC as part of her Master Gardener certification project. Maxwell Sewell extended the MACC Trail through the wooded area, and SME Preservation Fund volunteers are beautifying the courtyard and other flower beds around the building.

The MACC has reopened better than ever! Check out all the programs coming up by visiting the website, maccsignal.com.
