About US

It all started when Volunteers of all ages came together to save our beloved old school building.

The SME Preservation Fund was formed to help raise the money needed to restore, improve, and maintain our beloved school. We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, operating independently from the Town of Signal Mountain. Our goal is to help drive improvement projects that will allow the oldest public building in Signal Mountain to continue to thrive for decades to come.

Through your donations, we can fund projects both large and small. Smaller jobs – such as painting, cleaning, and basic repairs – are often done by volunteers from the community. Larger jobs are handled alongside the Town, using funds that we have raised.

Generations of families attended school at SME, many families continue to take classes at the MACC, and with your help we can ensure that future generations will be able to learn, grow, and gather in one of Signal Mountain’s most historic buildings.
